Cloud Mentor Weekend Courses - June, 201




After the popular fun-filled Engineering & Technology Summer Programme, we are back with a set of even more interesting courses giving your child a real-life glimpse into different careers, new technologies and various STEM knowledge domains. The Cloud Mentor way of exploring and understanding by doing and building will make these new courses a learning experience to cherish. Course details are in the attached files. Here is what's on offer this June:

Cloud Mentor Weekend Courses / Workshops – June, 2012

Age Group 6-9 years:

1.      “Food Scientist” – The Science of Cooking: Who doesn’t love food!! It’s fun to make, its fun to eat, its fun…to study? That’s right, explore food science projects! -Soups - are they ready, Top crops, veggies and fruits, chemistry of kimchi, "Moritsuke" - perfect your plating, Crispy potatoes, tuber and starch, Science of cheesecakes, Food flavoring – The science of marinades! Make Your Own Marshmallows! Temper – The science of chocolate, Chemistry of Ice-Cream Making

Batch 1: Starting on June 17th, every Sunday 9.30-11.30 am

2.      “Transformers” – The Science of Machines: Elevators, escalators, cranes, dump trucks, cars, roller coasters - wonder how these machines work? Understand and build these on your own as you analyze the load, friction, energy conversion, hydraulics, intelligent machines and so much more!

Batch 1: Starting on June 17th, every Sunday 11-30-1.30 pm
Batch 2: Starting on June 23rd, every Saturday 3-5 pm

3.      “Human Engineering” – The Science of the human body: Construct the parts of a human body all on your own and better understand each one’s function! – Build the Kidneys, Heart, Brain, Respiratory system, Eye, and Intestines to better appreciate the science of the human body.

Batch 1: Starting on June 24th, every Sunday 3-5 pm

Age group 10 + years :

1.      “Short Circuit 1” – The Science of Circuits: Understand basics of electricity, circuits, different types of batteries, switches, motors, resistors, displays, sensors - and combine these electronic components to make your name displays, lighting systems and other smart applications.

Batch 1: Starting on June 17th, every Sunday 9.30-11.30 am
Batch 2: Starting on June 23rd, every Saturday 3-5 pm

2.      “Short Circuit 2” – The Science of Circuits: Advanced level of Short Circuit 1 - understand ICs, 555 timers, Operational amplifiers, to integrate and create intelligent circuit based applications such as alarms, traffic light controllers, etc.  Entry open to those who have completed Short Circuit 1.

Batch 1: Starting on June 17th, every Sunday 11.30-1.30 pm

3.      “Cyborg” – The Science of Robotics: Understand logic gates, use of 555 timers, different types of sensors and actuators, algorithm design and creation, understand Digital design on IDE (Integrated Development Environment) programming to build various differential drive robots on your own (line follower, object avoider, wall follower, etc)! Entries open to those who have completed Short Circuit 2 and any Cloud Mentor mechanics-based course.

Batch 1: Starting on June 23rd, every Sunday 3-6 pm

4.      Camera Mechanics 2 – The Science of Photography: Learn and use advanced techniques like HDR and lighting equipment such as reflectors and soft boxes. Experiment with film photography, Panoramas, Learn night photography, advanced use of Photoshop (curves & filters), build a pinhole camera with a light meter! Entries open to those who have completed Camera Mechanics 1.

Batch 1: Starting on June 17th, every Sunday 3-5 pm


Course Structure :
·         All courses - 12 sessions, 2 hours each, Once a week (3 months)
·         Robotics – 16 sessions, 3 hours each, Once a week
·         Field trip + Group project + Innovation challenge / Engineering Fair included

Course fees:
·         All other courses - Rs.6000
·         Robotics - Rs.8000
(Inclusive of all classroom material, individual kits, field trip and group project material and taxes)

Jack of all trades – Become a self sufficient Handy Man and earn some money!






How many times has your child looked longingly at the hammer and nails, screw-drivers, cycle repairmen and garage mechanics and wanted to try it out?
Wouldn’t it be great if they were self sufficient and did all this?
We introduce these everyday skills and the importance of self-reliance in a safe environment under expert guidance where it becomes fun , not a chore!
And the add on -  They can become enthusiastic entrepreneurs using these skills and earn some extra pocket-money!



What we do:



-          Become an electrician – basics of household wiring and switches , how to fix bulbs and tube lights
-          Become a plumber – basics of water supply system, how to fix leaky taps and flushes
-          Become a carpenter – basics of hammering nails and screws and small repairs
-          Become a cycle mechanic – how a cycle and gears work and  how to maintain it, even repairing the puncture yourself

Gears, motors, levers, sensors – all Greek and Latin? And fascinating at the same time ? Get acquainted with these movers and shakers of the mechanical world at Cloud Mentor’s ‘Grease Monkey’ -  a fun filled Mechanics course for teens.   • Material coupling techniques - learn to use glue, nails, clamps, nuts and bolts appropriately

  • Assembling and testing of a mechanical toy - design, assemble, test and improve your own pet – a full-fledged four-legged moving animal !
